A 3D Hubs century

This is another great milestone for me and for Z-Azis 3D. The last milestone of 100 orders earned us the status of “Professional Hub”. However for me a more important milestone is imminent. I have received my 99th review, and it is a positive one. I am eagerly awaiting my Century.

I try to provide a service above & beyond what’s expected, even for the smaller orders. The reasons for this is partly that I love doing it, it’s passion before anything else. I take pleasure in receiving and fulfilling a wide variety of orders for professional and personal projects. It’s fascinating how many uses are emerging for 3D Printing services. Where appropriate I love to share these learning experience with my customers or other enthusiasts. Of course the positive reviews drive more orders. Each positive review comes from a potential return customer, and creates the potential of a new customer.

More often than not the amount of time spent on those orders outweighs their face-value by some way, but the value of the learning experience is hard to quantify. Almost each new job teaches me something and improves my ability to perform the next job.

2016 so far has seen a real surge of orders. The first quarter of 2016 has brought in more orders than 2014 and 2015 together. Many of these were from repeat customers and I think that the word about 3D Printing and 3D Hubs is spreading. Wide-spread consumer 3D printing is still a long way from the tipping point though. So what types of things are we printing on 3D hubs today?

  • Student Projects
  • Product Prototypes
  • Small Volume Production parts
  • Spare Parts
  • Gadgets -especially Drone Parts – oh yes, plenty of those
  • 3D Printer Parts
  • Fairphone Accessories
  • Jewellery prototypes
  • Mould patterns
  • Fitment Jigs / holders
  • Busts
  • Architectural Models
  • Toy Models
  • Other (sometimes I just never find out what the parts I’m printing are for exactly)

The summary list is short but is covers a fascinating array of orders. I wish I had more time to share the ones that I’m allowed to share but I’m kept pretty busy fulfilling them.

An array of prints. Note that I do not share images of prints without first asking permission unless they are models already available in the public domain.
